Maternity Services
Post-natal care is provided at Numurkah District Health Service in cooperation between Goulburn Valley Health Maternity Services and the Numurkah District Health Service General Ward. The service is dependent on midwife availability, you are welcome to Contact Us for more information. You will be introduced to the option for transfer from Goulburn Valley Health to Numurkah, through ante-natal services at Numurkah District Health Service and Goulburn Valley Health shared care. The treating GP may also suggest this service.
Women and babies who are low-risk may choose to transfer from Goulburn Valley Health and obtain supportive post-natal care before being discharged home.
The multidisciplinary approach supports women after the birth of their baby and provides consistency of care between midwives, domiciliary service and GP.
The breast-feeding support service at Community Health further assists women to breast-feed while they are inpatients, and on discharge introduces the lactation day-stay unit for additional support.
