Aged Care Services
Numurkah District Health Service operates two facilities providing supported accommodation for 66 people. In residential aged care the residents, staff and families work together to improve the lives of all. The Aged Care Standards and Accreditation Agency ( ACSA) has endorsed our quality of care until 2009.
- Orana House - Day Activities Program
- High-care Residential Aged Care (Karinya)
- Low-Care Residential Aged Care (Numurkah Pioneers Memorial Lodge)
- Respite Care
- Palliative Care
Social Activities:
Trained staff from Karinya and the Lodge lifestyle team keep residents active with a full range of activities and social contact. With the increased emphasis on this aspect of residential care we have developed additional programs and after-hours activities at both facilities:
- Leisure and lifestyle programs such as garden club, men’s group and involvement with Orana, are continuing in both aged care facilities
- Involvement with the community, such as Vision Australia, Church groups and regular bus outings.
High Standards Achieved
Assessors from ACSA have given a resounding endorsement of Numurkah District Health Service residential care facilities, with both attaining a perfect score of compliance by meeting 44 out of 44 outcomes in the four standards areas set by the agency.
Following the independent audit of each facility, three-year accreditation was awarded to both Karinya and Numurkah Pioneers Memorial Lodge.
The three-year accreditation is an outstanding reflection of the quality of care provided to residents and will assure older people in Numurkah and surrounding community receive a high standard of care.
