Auxiliaries
Assisting us to improve patient care, auxiliaries provide important support to many of Numurkah District Health Service’s services and raise funds for the purchase of equipment through cake and craft stalls, golf days, bus trips, fashion parades and many other activities.

"Numurkah District Health Service has been privileged to enjoy the support of auxiliaries for many years. We take this opportunity to express our sincere thanks to the auxiliaries for their support". |

Friends of Karinya
Friends of Karinya provide the little extras for the residents. We provided the Diversional Therapist with money for Birthday and Christmas presents for the residents as well as providing the money for any activity needs that help to stimulate the residents.
Anyone is welcome to attend our meetings, which are held the 4th Thursday of each month at 1.30pm in the West Wing activities room of Karinya. Families of residents are also encouraged to join. At the conclusion of each meeting we have afternoon tea and a chat.
We have 2 fundraisers a year. One is usually a morning coffee the other is held in November, always a Christmas theme. This year we have raised $3,564.00 and have been able to purchase a white board word finder as well as 2 wheelchairs and new singing books, Bingo calling cards as well as anything else that is needed for the residents.
Our ladies are a very willing lot of ladies, as well as the Friends of Karinya they also come in on set days and help with activities such as cards, reading the local paper, talking to the residents. Thursday morning is always singing. We also assist the Diversional Therapist with outings such as shopping, the Numurkah Singers production, wheelchair walks and the Numurkah show to name a few.
Please consider coming and joining us at our meetings, you will be very welcome.

Pioneers Memorial Lodge Auxiliary
The Pioneers Memorial Lodge Auxiliary was formed in 1977. Since that time, its members have worked tirelessly to raise funds to provide the Lodge with the many little extras, and the not-so-little extras for the comfort and interest of Lodge residents. Present membership is twelve and we would welcome new members at anytime. Meetings are held on the second Monday of each month at 8.00pm in the Coffee Room at the Lodge. They are informal and usually short. The AGM is held in March, when a guest speaker is invited to attend along with any interested members of the public.
We have three fundraisers during the year. On the first Monday of May and September we organise a bus trip to the pokies at one of the nearby clubs. Lunch is included, with a very reasonable charge. Everyone is assured of an enjoyable day out. In June, we hold a Coffee Afternoon with a variety of entertainment or a guest speaker. Raffles and a delicious afternoon tea are included in the days' activities as well a well-stocked craft stall, courtesy of the Lodge Craft Group. As this is our main fundraiser we appreciate support for residents' families, friends and members of the public. We also hold a party to celebrate the Lodge' birthday each August, with entertainment, raffles, birthday cake and afternoon tea. In December we arrange a Christmas party with guest artists to entertain and lead carol singing. Santa usually makes time to join us to hand out presents to residents, supplied by the Auxiliary. Families are also invited to join in and make the day special for their family member.
The Lodge Craft Group, made up of several very dedicated local ladies, staff and lodge residents create an amazing array of beautiful craft work which is always on sale at the Lodge. This initiative raises many hundreds of dollars to boost Auxiliary funds. Some of the Auxiliaries most recent purchases include two bridge chairs for the foyer, a lightweight wheelchair, podiatry equipment, CD player, photographic prints and coffee tables. We also donate funds regularly to our Diversional Therapist for activities and outings, as well as reimbursing the craft group for purchase of materials and expenses. Several of our members also assist with activities, outings and newspaper reading, enjoying their interaction with residents.
If you would like to join us, please contact the Lodge office.
