Numurkah District Health Service
Numurkah Healthy Communities Project Launch
Today we hear more and more bad news. A massive increase in Type 2 Diabetes, obesity, depression, tobacco related harm, binge drinking, teenage pregnancies.
Numurkah and District Health Service has decided to do something about it.
The board have committed $750,000 over three years to the Numurkah Healthy Communities “Showing a Better Way to a Healthy Life” Project with an ambitious goal to see the entire community become more health conscious, eat healthy, become more physically active and through that reduce the incidence of chronic disease in our community.
This project will bring together the highly skilled professionals at Numurkah Community Health into a three year plan that combines effective, cutting edge health promotion, community education, and specialist lifestyle programs aimed at the families, parents, young people as well as the elderly in the Numurkah and District to help them live healthier lives.
Neil Stott, Community Health Manager; Frank Malcolm, Moira Shire Mayor, Mr Ken Jasper, MLA, CEO Jacque Phillips and Board President Lindsay Mitchell at the official launch of the Numurkah Health Communities Project on Tuesday August 5.
For Health and Wellbeing
The Numurkah District Health Service is justifiably proud of our achievements in health care, and of the great contribution we make to the life of this community. We are forging strong partnerships with sister organisations, community groups and individuals throughout the region, which adds strength and value to all of us.
We are part of the community, and part of the community’s life blood, whether it be in providing physical or psychological support to clients, top quality aged care services, sharing human resource IT information with other organisations, or providing livelihoods for dozens of regional families through jobs in nursing, medicine, catering, IT or a host of other areas.
